5 PROTECTIVE STYLE IDEAS FOR FALL – AS SEEN ON INSTAGRAM

Hey BeauTIFFul!

It’s officially October so no matter how much I hate to admit it, Fall (or autumn) is here to stay. No more 80 degree days, no more daily wash and go’s, and no more fun in the sun. What a heartbreaker! It’s day two of Blogtober – which is an Instagram roundup.

Well when the weather gets cooler, I like to protective style my hair. It’s easy, it gives my hair a chance to rest, promotes growth, and increases length retention. The options are endless when it comes to protective hairstyles. Here are a few protective style ideas for fall that I found while browsing Instagram.

KINKY TWISTS

BOX BRAIDS

One of my favorite protective hairstyles ever! They are chic, last for weeks, and are so easy to do. Check out my tutorial.

FAUX LOCS

One day (or an entire weekend) I’ll sit down to finally do a set of faux locs. Until then, I’ll continue to gush over how fabulous they look on other naturalistas.

FANCY UPDOS

I absolutely LOVE this cinnabun updo on Strawberricurls. if you hair isn’t long enough for this style you can easily recreate it using marley hair.

CROCHET BRAIDS

Crochet braids are one of my fave protective styles because they are so easy to do. They are also really affordable and can be done for under $15! Check out my tutorial on how I achieved this stile for $12

$12 DIY Protective Hair Style – Crochet Braids

Hey BeauTIFFul!

After a long, hot, and grueling summer, I decided to give my hair a much needed break by protective styling. I also just started school while working full time, which means I have NO time to do my hair. Rather than let my hair suffer from the neglect, lack of detangling and moisturizing which can easily happen when life gets busy, I decided to protective style by doing a set of crochet braids.

Details on the hair:

Two packs of Freetress Bohemian Braid hair  in a color 4/30 and 30 (auburn) which were $5.99 a pack at my local beauty supply store. Each pack was cut in half to achieve a shoulder length style. After completing my crochet braids, I then cut it to frame my face, a bang, and to fall just above my shoulders.

As many naturals have said, this style gets better with age. Some make this style last for up to two months, some make it last a few weeks.

I hope this post inspired you to try out crochet braids for your next protective hairstyle!
